Nonpartisan Organizations to Work Together to Boost New York Voter Engagement
In celebration of National Voter Registration Day, Unite NY and the League of Women Voters NYS announced a new partnership focused on voter registration and education. National Voter Registration Day, is a nonpartisan civic holiday dedicated to celebrating our democracy by working to ensure everyone who is eligible can sign up to vote in this upcoming, historic election.
As part of this new partnership, the League and Unite NY will work on a series of Voter Registration Events all over New York State, kicking off with a drive on the Syracuse University campus, hosted by Connect 315. The partnership’s first event will take place on Friday, September 20 on Syracuse University Campus from 5-7:30 PM. Additional voter registration events will be co-hosted by the Unite New York and the League of Women Voters in Utica, Buffalo, and in other locations across the Empire State.
“The primary goal of this partnership is to encourage New Yorkers to exercise their right to vote, and to help them understand and complete the steps necessary so they’re qualified to cast their vote on November 5th,” said Unite NY Executive Director Tim Dunn. “This election is so important and it is a fantastic opportunity for New Yorkers to have their voices heard. Through this effort, we hope to empower New Yorkers, and help to give voters more voices and more choices.”
“The League is excited to announce a partnership with Unite NY to boost voter registration efforts across New York State,” said Erica Smitka, Executive Director of the League of Women Voters of New York State. “This collaboration will leverage both organizations’ strengths to empower citizens, foster informed voting, and increase civic participation in the November election.”
