Our mission is simple.

Unite Americans to improve the systems and culture of self‑government.

We do this by educating voters, advancing structural reforms, and empowering New Yorkers to participate with confidence.

The Challenge We Face.

New York’s civic engagement problems aren’t an accident. Structural problems in New York’s election laws have tipped the balance heavily towards special interests and entrenched partisan leaders, resulting in a lack of confidence that our government can solve the problems impacting New Yorkers most. That lack of confidence has contributed to low voter turnout and talent flight from New York to other states.

Mission.

Unite NY is a nonpartisan movement seeking to build a stronger democracy in New York through more voices and more choices.

Vision.

A fairer, stronger, more democratic New York. A dynamic, participatory system where every New Yorker is empowered to engage in our elections and our government can finally focus on the issues that matter, instead of battling itself.

Principles of Action.

  1. Our government has a strong democratic foundation that is worth fighting for.
  2. Our government should be more responsive to citizens.
  3. Citizens can be empowered to pursue the change New York needs.

Our Priorities.

When people believe their voices matter, real change becomes possible.

Power Through Representation

Your voice drives change in the policies affecting your life through representative government. We're here to make sure that connection actually works.

Engaging Citizens

We show up in communities across New York to listen, then help build the kind of informed, organized base that key decision-makers cannot ignore.

New York Shapes What's Next

We do this work with the understanding that democracy reform efforts in New York move the needle nationally.

Built on New Yorkers

New Yorkers are creative, innovative, and care deeply about their families and friends. We take pride in our state. With individual fortitude and the right community support, New Yorkers can make change happen.

How We Work.

We connect with citizens all over the state to join together to improve our democracy. We know that we can forge a better path for New York by working together to seek common sense solutions across party lines and support leaders that look to solve problems rather than settle scores.

Building A Movement

Unite NY helps New Yorkers make their voices count by bringing people together to improve our democracy. Even in a divided political climate, we believe in common-sense solutions.

Research & Education

We track voter sentiment and highlight the gap between political extremes and the majority of New Yorkers to support engaged citizens with research and tools to strengthen their voices. We share this data with leaders and the media to show that voters want more voices, more choices, and better results.

Enabling More Voices & Choices

Unite NY empowers citizens to make their voices heard, whether through engaging in their communities or meeting with decision makers. We're focused on restoring trust, increasing voter participation, and driving better outcomes through our Five Pillars of Reform.
