Governor’s Race – Government Reform Taking Center Stage

Unite NY has been diligently advocating to any candidates for Governor willing to listen the importance of pro-democracy reforms like Open Primaries as tools to fix this broken system. That’s why we were excited to see Larry Sharpe formally announce his candidacy this week. Larry has been a strong supporter of Unite NY’s efforts to open up the primary process to welcome the 3.5 million New Yorkers not enrolled in a Party.
We’re happy to see Larry declare his candidacy, and encourage other candidates for Governor to embrace Unite NY’s reform agenda to fix this broken system. In just a few months, petitioning will begin for independent bodies seeking a spot on the ballot and Unite NY plans to field a candidate for Governor. The candidate we’re supporting will certainly be someone who has embraced these ideals. Stay tuned for more!
